As we work in a time of rapid change … from within a dramatically new information landscape, the best description of the 21st Century teacher is Master Learner. (Warlick, 2009)
David Warlick’s quote captures what I believe is an important truth. His ‘Gardener’s Approach to Learning‘, one in which he encourages educators to develop an ‘information ecosystem’ really resonated with me. I’ve mapped out my own Personal Learning Network based on his model. Ultimately, we need to assist students to be aware of their own information ecosystems and to cultivate them for best outcomes.
